Every year, students from across the state help transform Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park (SHP) into a frontier setting of life, laughter, and excitement.

While many of the over 50,000 school children that visit the park annually are here for only a short period of time, we often hear from them directly about the many memorable experiences they will carry throughout their lifetime.

Check out what they have to say:

Letters to Friends of Sutter’s Fort

Friends of Sutter’s Fort is proud to offer grants and fee waivers to schools and other educational groups looking to overcome financial barriers that prevent them from attending the educational programs at Sutter’s Fort SHP. This competitive Fee Waiver and Grant Program is funded entirely through our generous donors.

Give the gift of hands-on learning with a donation to our Fee Waiver and Grant Program fund.

Letters to the Sutter’s Fort Docents

One of the more popular experiences kids have recently shared with us had to do with their trip to the doctor at Sutter’s Fort. Portrayed by long-time Sutter’s Fort docent, Diana King, many of the kids went out of their way to send Diana a special thanks for curing them of all their 1840s ailments. Don’t worry, no children were harmed in the process!

A big thank you to Diana King for helping build a lifetime of memories and to the wonderful students of Del Paso Manor for sharing them.

Do you have your own fan mail and art to send to the volunteer docents and staff at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park? They would all love to hear from you!
