Join us for an outdoor movie at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park: Newsies

Experience the Magic of Newsies Under the Stars at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park! Do you love musicals, history and adventure? Then you won’t want to miss this special outdoor screening of Newsies, the 1992 Disney musical that tells the story of the brave newsboys who fought for their rights against the powerful newspaper tycoons in 1899 New York City. Join us in the public park grounds at Sutter’s Fort SHP and enjoy this family-friendly film featuring Christian Bale, Robert Duvall, Bill Pullman and Ann-Margaret. Sing along to the catchy songs, cheer for the underdogs and learn about a fascinating chapter of American history. Don’t forget to bring your blankets, chairs and snacks!

Plan Your Movie Night

7PM: Find your perfect spot in the public park grounds at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. The movie will be projected onto the Fort wall at 26th and L. Spaces are first come first serve, please bring your own chairs/ blankets. Dogs on leash are OK. No alcohol please.  While we wait for the movie to start, enjoy live music my Randy Sykes. Refreshing beverages and candy will be on-site and available for purchase.

The first 100 attendees to visit the Friends of Sutter’s Fort table will receive a glow bracelet and small popcorn.

8:15 PM: Newsies will begin as soon as it is dark enough to see the movie projection on the walls of Sutter’s Fort SHP.

While the outdoor movies are free, you can also choose to support Friends of Sutter’s Fort by purchasing a Films with Friends Fun Pack for $50 with all proceeds benefiting efforts to bring more community events and activations to Sutter’s Fort. Friends Fun Packs are available to order in advance on our website and on-site at the event (if and while supplies last).

Each Friends Fun Pack will include:

• Fun picnic blanket perfect for watching the movie on the lawn
• Assortment of candy
• 4 sodas or waters
• 4 small popcorns
