May is Historic Preservation Month, a time when people from all across America celebrate their history, culture, and special momentous places. Sponsored annually, the National Trust for Historic Preservation created Preservation Week in 1971 to spotlight local preservation efforts throughout the United States.
We are proud to be a part of the restoration and preservation efforts at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park (SHP). Your support has allowed us to fund over $800,000 in preservation and restoration projects over the past 5 years at the park.
There is still much more to be done, however, and we appreciate your future support as we work together with California State Parks to ensure the historic buildings and artifacts at Sutter’s Fort SHP are preserved for future generations of visitors to come.

Recent disasters, such as the wildfires that impacted parks, museums, and historic sites throughout California and the tragic fire at Notre-Dame de Paris, remind us how important it is to be prepared to respond to such disasters.
Friends of Sutter’s Fort is committed to ensuring the long term protection of Sutter’s Fort SHP as part of our preservation efforts with California State Parks.
