Friends of Sutter’s Fort is thrilled to share that we have awarded grants to six local schools to help break down financial barriers that may otherwise prevent them from being able to participate in the day-long Environmental Studies Program and the overnight Environmental Living Program at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park.
In total, the grants will help more than 350 students from Title 1 schools visit Suter’s Fort SHP for these rewarding, hands-on experiences. Three schools are being provided funding to offset rising transportation costs and three other schools are receiving funding to reduce program fees.
This year schools need even more assistance with field trips due to rising costs of transportation for students. Many schools no longer have access to school bussing resulting in significantly more expensive fiedl trips expenses.
Funding for these grants comes from donors, and from a generous grant by the California State Parks Foundation. Thank you for helping to get more students out of the classroom for in-person field trips at Sutter’s Fort SHP.
