Flashback Friday:

The Mach 16, 1933 edition of the The Sacramento Bee shares the death of William H Adams, who had been born inside the old adobe walls of the Central Building at Sutter’s Fort during flooding of 1855. Like many families during floods in the 1800s, his parents had taken refuge there because it sat on higher elevation. When the Sacramento River flooded, residents found higher ground.
