Celebrate Acorn Day at the State Indian Museum in Sacramento on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM! This free event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with California Native culture, learn about traditional food practices, and explore local history.

What is Acorn Day?

Acorn Day is an annual celebration that brings together community members to learn about the cultural significance of acorns—a traditional food staple for California Native peoples. Acorns have been a vital part of Native Californian diets for thousands of years, and this event showcases the process of turning acorns into food, from harvesting to preparation.

Her book will be available for purchase in the museum store.

Take home a piece of nature from Miridae Mobile Plant Nursery! Note: Plant sales available from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM only.

Craft Stations and Guided Tours

Participate in hands-on crafts and enjoy guided tours of the State Indian Museum and the park grounds throughout the day.

Plan Your Visit – Admission Information

While Acorn Day is free and open to the public, admission fees apply if you plan to visit the State Indian Museum or Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park during the event. Your ticket gives you access to both sites on the day of the event.

Location: The event will be held in the park grounds outside the State Indian Museum, located in Midtown Sacramento.
