Hands on History: Juneteenth at historic Black Miners Bar

Taking place at Black Miners Bar, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

Family-friendly event celebrating the end of slavery in the U.S. and African American freedom, history and culture. All are welcome!

When: Saturday, June 17, 2023 | 10 am to 4 pm
Where: Black Miners Bar, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, 9698 Greenback Lane, Folsom, CA

Presented by California State Parks, California State Parks Foundation, Friends of Lakes Folsom and Natoma (FOLFAN), and the Juneteenth U.S.A. at Black Miners Bar Planning Committee.

Free event features:
• Educational exhibits
• A variety of speakers
• Guided nature walks by park docents and interpretive staff
• Coloring station for kids 12 and under
• Arts and crafts
• Music
• Panel of historians

The event will also include food and commercial vendors, and the state park location provides lakeside beach access, including kayak/SUP rentals.

While the Juneteenth event is free, vehicles are subject to a $10 day use fee to enter the state park.
