Hands on History: S.T.E.A.M at the Fort

Saturday, August 18th
10:00am to 5:00pm

Visit Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park and enjoy a very special Hands on History event featuring STEAM, science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics!

Fort visitors will have the opportunity to step back in time to the 1840s and learn about the many ways in which those who lived, worked and visited Sutter’s Fort utilized science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Our talented Sutter’s Fort docent volunteers will provide many hands on learning stations appropriate for all ages throughout the Fort.

These are just some of the questions visitors will find answers to during STEAM at the Fort:

What role did the cattle industry in California play in technology of the times?

How did Pioneers migrating from the United State to California know how fast they were traveling?

What tools were available at the time?

How was Sutter’s Fort constructed in the 1830s?

How does a cannon fire?

Admission to this special event at Sutter’s Fort SHP is $7 per adult (18 and older), $5 per youth (ages 6 to 17) and is free for children 5 and under (regular admission pricing is $5 per adult, $3 for youth).
